Smaug is extremely proud of his position in life. Not only has he developed a reputation for being one of the smartest and toughest dragons, he has the treasure stockpile to prove it. Humanity trembles at the sound of his name, and all attempts upon his life have failed.

Smaug the Magnificent is at the pinnacle of his life as a dragon, and the success seems unlikely to cease.

He considers himself invulnerable, and thus far he would be correct, although the presence of invulnerability is impossible to prove, while the lack thereof is quite obvious once the fateful proof to the contrary occurs. No one has even come close to stopping Smaug, and he grows bolder by the day.

His greatest weakness is his love of riddles. He is capable of solving even the most complex riddles in a surprisingly short amount of time - but it quite fond of keeping the answers to himself until the very last moment. He is clever, and difficult to outwit. He has a brilliant memory, capable of memorizing anything he desires.

His successes have made him vain, and he spends as much of the day admiring himself in the reflections in his stolen possessions as he does seeking new additions to his collection.
